Here at My Gator Watch, we are hugely proud of our team. Almost all of our team work flexibly from home, and this is because our founder Colleen Wong is a massive advocate for flexible work. She believes that family comes first! This week we would like to introduce you to some of the amazing mums who juggle their family life around their roles here at My Gator Watch.
Jen – Customer Service & My Gator Watch photographer
I sort of fell into this role, as one of our colleagues was very ill, and I took her position until she regained her health. Happily, she regained her health, and I stayed. I have many thoughts on My Gator Watch. Firstly I believe that this product is so needed. It helps get kids out and active and actively avoiding smart capabilities; I can stand behind this ethos proudly as the Mother of two. We are a diverse team that spans many continents and timezones, but I honestly feel we work together so seamlessly. I feel so fondly for my colleagues across the pond(s) and very much enjoy working with them. Working flexibly for me is very important. I had decided long ago that if I went back to work after my babies were born, it would never be to an institution with a 9-5 mentality. This is the way of the future, and it is liberating.
I am in a customer support role, as well as a photographer for My Gator Watch. Being part of this start-up is inspiring for me. It’s a tech company which I find exciting, it’s relevant to today’s modern world, and I can work flexibly with a bunch of top-notch individuals.
‘All of my colleagues inspire me as they all are experts in a specific niche. Lastly, Colleen, the founder is passionate and brilliant, and a ball of energy, and I want to help her reach high with this fantastic product!
Amelia – Social Media Manager
I joined My Gator Watch almost three years ago, when my daughter was nearly 2, working on the companies social media channels. I met Colleen to discuss the role and was instantly attracted to the idea of working for a British start-up and watching/helping ‘someone’s dream to become a reality.
I have only ever worked for large companies and so working for a small company is exciting and rewarding in so many ways. As a mum of two, flexible work is a must for me, and the team at My Gator Watch are ‘pro’s when it comes to juggling work commitments around your kids. The ethos is always ”family first”, and the support is second to none. It truly is work that works and ‘it’s so exciting to watch a small company grow into such a success.
Terri – Customer Service
Before this job, I had been out of work due to childcare and being a full-time Mummy. Because of this job I’ve not missed a second of my daughters development – first steps, I was there, first words, I was there, she is above and beyond her development levels because I am THERE!
I drop my eldest daughter Gabriella to and from school every day. This is a significant thing for her as I am her constant. I can work while dressing Barbies and making tea. I can pursue my love of sewing.
I make my own money, and I can take the kids to special places and buy them what they need.
This job has also enabled me to pay for treatment for my mum, and while it sadly didn’t work for her, it gave me and my sister hope during the most horrendous time of our lives. It also helped me to pay for her funeral while also allowing me to be there with her whenever she needed me.
I would not have had all these things without this job.
Meg – Social Media Manager and Blogger
I started working at My Gator Watch as maternity cover for Amelia. I trained to become a social media manager through Digital Mums when I was expecting my second baby. I wanted a way to have it all! I wanted to continue working and contributing to our family, but I also wanted to be there for ‘children’s needs day and night. Working for My Gator Watch has allowed me to “”have it all” I have a brilliant work life balance and I am able to get my work done when the children are at preschool/school or during the evenings. ‘It’s a juggle sometimes but I ‘wouldn’t have it any other way. I am now expecting my third baby and plan to take minimal maternity leave as I will be able to continue working from home. Colleen has made a fantastic team from a group of dedicated mums, and I hope that more businesses follow suit!
We feel truly inspired to be part of such a unique and successful team, and we hope these stories inspire you too. Do you work for a company that promotes flexible work? Join the conversation in the comments below or via our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages.
