February half term is almost upon us, and we can’t believe how quickly it has come round! As a team of mums ourselves, we know all too well that keeping the kids busy during the school holidays can be a massive task. This week we want to bring you a list of the most exciting events all around the country that will be sure to keep your kids busy this half term. IMAGINE CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL – LONDON

Southbank Centre’s Imagine Children’s Festival returns in 2019 for 12 jam-packed days of fun. Dive into the best children’s theatre, literature and music, with plenty of workshops and free events for everyone.

Draw, write, read, play, sing, dance and create. Over 50% of the programme is free, and there is plenty to do for all ages between 0 and 12. For more information click here.

MINI FARMER WEEK AT GODSTONE FARM – SURREY

Calling all inspiring farmers and animal lovers! A week-long chance to take part in true farmyard fun, with animal encounters galore. Earn your stamps as you complete activities on the farm trail.

There’s feeding, grooming, and milking, all while learning about animal husbandry and why the residents at Godstone Farm are so happy!

PUDDLE JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS – LONDON

Grab your wellies, get outside and join in puddle jumping championships being held across the UK at WWT’s nine wetland centres.

See who can produce the biggest splash from their puddle jump. You will also be judged on your enthusiasm and jumping style. Daily winners will be announced throughout the half term, and lucky ‘super-splashers’ will receive fantastic prizes!

DARK SKIES FESTIVAL – VARIOUS LOCATIONS

National Parks remain some of the darkest places in England. The Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, North York Moors and the South Downs will be running a joint festival from 15 February to 3 March 2019.

Dark Skies festivals are all about discovering, learning and enjoying the dark (and the stars that come with it) This could mean getting out for an activity such as cycling, walking, running or caving at night, attending a stargazing party, or taking part in a daytime event, learning more about star constellations or making a rocket.

JORVIK VIKING FESTIVAL YORK

Visit York in February 2019 for a week-long celebration of all things Viking!

This year remember legendary Vikings whose role in the sagas are often forgotten – the women who schemed, fought and led their people through turbulent times. Across the city, you will discover an exciting programme of events, plus living history encampments, talks, tours and of course, dramatic combat performances. PIRATE SCHOOL AT PORTSMOUTH HISTORIC DOCKYARD

Calling all salty sea dogs and landlubbers! When you arrive at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard during February half term, you’ll notice something a little bit different. Start your day out in the visitor centre where you’ll meet one of their pesky pirates.

Go on a self-guided trail across the dockyard as you follow in the footsteps of Royal Navy greats. Can you find all the Pirate Maters and learn some new tricks? Take part in hilarious activities and listen to stories from the seven seas.

You will also have the opportunity to get up close to the Historic ships while you try to find all the pirates!

DENBIES WINE ESTATE– SURREY

Take your pick from a vast range of family events at Denbies wine estate this half term. You can enjoy Teddy Bear picnics, a sing-along cinema experience or even get up close and personal to creepy crawlies at the Tropical creepy crawly roadshow. KNIGHTS AND PRINCESSES AT KENILWORTH CASTLE – WARWICKSHIRE

SCIENCE OF MAGIC – WINCHESTER

Head to Winchester Science Centre this February Half Term and Discover the science behind the magic with a live science show packed full of exciting chemistry tricks and optical illusions. Children can get hands-on in the Invention Studio with themed activities and challenges while inspirers will be roaming the exhibition floor with exciting busking activities.
