You did it! The kids are back to school. You survived the 6 weeks like a pro and now it’s time to get back to some sense of routine. It’s a bit quiet though isn’t it? And once the excitement of waving them off has gone it’s easy to feel a little bit lost. After all we have just spent 6 weeks with chaos, noise and let’s face it, way too much ice cream! This week we want to remind you of all the positive things that might be happening in your house as the kids go back to school. Sit back, put your feet up and grab a cuppa. Because guess what? You can!
HOT DRINK HEAVEN
Yep we’ve said it already but isn’t it just the best feeling? Bye Bye “microwave reheat” and hello hot, fresh coffee. You will now be able to finish a whole hot drink in peace. Maybe even two, why not go wild and have three? The world of caffeine is your oyster!
“ALEXA” PLAY ME SOMETHING NICE
Alexa play Moana! Alexa play The Greatest Showman! Alexa why is poo brown? If you have the joy of owning an Alexa then you will know that it’s the worst thing to buy if you have kids (We’ve been there and done that) But with the house empty of kids you can ask Alexa to play what ever you want or even better pack her away and enjoy the good old radio. Why not stick ‘This Morning’ on the TV whilst you hoover the lounge…. or whilst you drink your HOT drink 😉
EMPTY LAUNDRY BASKETS
You might not remember what the bottom of your laundry basket looks like but trust us when we say you will now be seeing it a lot more often. With the kids wearing the same outfit everyday you will be a laundry ninja and that basket wont be overflowing everyday. You might even find pairs to those little lost socks that have been getting stuck in all the wrong cycles for the last 6 weeks.
SIMPLE FOOD SHOPPING
Whether you shop online or brave the supermarket it’s safe to say that shopping is an entirely better experience without the kids. Plus you will save yourself a few pennies with the kids being back at school. No more cupboards filled with endless snacks for those hungry little ones. Let’s leave that to school!
LESS NOISE
Oh the peace and quiet! Whether you are getting the housework done, or trying to catch up on work you can be sure that there will be a lot less noise. And whilst the lack of screaming and shouting might give you a big pang of empty nest syndrome you can be reassured that come 3.30pm they will be back to lift your spirits (and have you eagerly packing them off the next day at 9am)
We hope these little reminders have given you a pick me up. Independence is equally important for us parents as it is for our kids! Enjoy it, embrace it, and don’t forget that you can always keep tabs on them with their Gator Watch if you are missing them!
Part of growing up is taking on independence, step by step, and My Gator Watch – the wearable mobile phone – makes that happen. It uses GPS, two-way calling, works across multiple networks and has an SOS feature for peace of mind.
