Tracking Explained

The Gator watch uses GPS, mobile mast locations (aka “Location Based Services” or LBS) and WIFI for tracking. GPS is the most accurate form of tracking as it uses trilateration or 3 satellites as shown in the picture below.

Wifi and LBS are used when the watch does not have a clear line of site to 3 satellites and both are less accurate, especially outside urban areas.

The Gator watch needs to be on, in motion and outdoors for the most accurate location tracking. We strongly suggest that tracking be used as a secondary method of knowing where your child is. The best way to know their exact location, either indoors or outdoors, is to call them!
